Bianco di Custoza Wine
The dog days of summer are upon us and I cannot think of a better way of spending it then having a glass of Bianco di Custoza, a wine from the Veneto region of north-eastern region of Italy. From the first to last drop, Bianco di Custoza is an enjoyable surprise, a blend of six grapes (Fernanda, Riesling and Trabbiano, to name a few) make this white wine unique and enjoyable.
Custoza has a beautiful straw color , it’s fresh, floral and fragrant with notes of elderberry and hawthorn.
Delicate yet lively, goes well with light dishes, the slight frizzante makes this wine especially refreshing.
Gavi Di Gavi Vigne Di San Martino
Made from hand-selected Cortese grapes that were grown in volcanic limestone and argillaceous marl. The grapes are pressed whole and left to macerate on their skins for a short period of time. The juice sits on the fine less for a duration of three months before resting in the bottle for three months. The nose is delicate but persistent with aromas of fresh-cut hay and acacia. On the palate this light-bodied wine is fresh and harmonious with bracing minerality and a lingering finish.
Pairs well with the fish, brussel sprouts, our kale sandwich or a cheese plate.
San Giovanni ‘Il vino di una nottie’
At night, in an area near Lake Garda, Valtenesi in Northern Italy a beautiful rose wine is produced by San Giovanni ‘Il vino di una nottie’. Translated; the wine of a night, during the vinification process the skins of the grapes only have a brief contact with the grapes during the midnight hour during the first night of fermentation. Thus, producing a coral pink rose wine that is pleasantly fruity with a light body and a clean refreshing finish. So, make the wine of the night your wine tonight.
Many hours of sun and the balanced climate at Mazzon give our Pinot Noir elegance, a harmonious body, a firm tannin structure and a fresh finish. The stimulating fresh-fruity bouquet unfolds to reveal the warm aromas of raspberry and cherry. A welcome companion to meat dishes and game, as well as intensively flavored starters.
Pairs well with cheeses, all of the Crostinis and our thin sliced Prosciutto.
Sincero, which means candid in Italian, is a wine that is truthful and straightforward. It’s a wine that doesn’t require too much thought to drink and enjoy, thus, making one ‘Happy’.
Sincero is certified biodynamic, hand-picked and fermented with native yeasts, without any temperature controls. A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon provide the happy taste of black cherries with some savory herb overtones, with a wonderful silky smooth finish too. Easy to pair with our spareribs, meatballs and our selection of cheeses.
Come in and enjoy Sincero and be happy with a friend or two.
Deep and dark ruby red color, with blue reflections, its smell explodes in red fruits notes, graphite and jam scents. A great structured wine, with a good balance between ripe fruits and mineral notes. The donkey on the label represents the grape which is a small and very juicy grapes.
This wine airs well with the pork ribs and meatballs here at Gottino.
